Vote No 1 Michael Connolly in Upcoming Local Election May 23rd 2014

Message to Constituents

When first elected to Galway County Council I promised to work hard on your behalf. I left my job with Thermo King Galway five months after been elected to Galway Co. Council, to concentrate on local politics.

I have worked tirelessly on a wide range of issues and believe I have kept my promise to people who elected me. I was a founder member of the National Federation of Group Water Schemes and I have served as Chairman of Galway County Rural Water Monitoring Committee for the last 14 years, where Capital funding has been secured every year to upgrade Water networks and improve water Quality in Group Water Schemes throughout County Galway.

The closure of the 22 bed Psychiatric Unit in St. Brigid’s Hospital, Ballinasloe is wrong and I pledge to continue to fight this decision as it represents a devestation of mental health facilities in East Galway. I also pledge to fight to protect services at Portiuncula Hospital and to ensure that services are enhanced and not downgraded.

I believe that new legislation is now required to change the age-old way rates are assessed on businesses, resulting in many outlets being forced to close every year. The Ballinasloe area should be designated as a Region of unlimited growth because of its connectivity through the M6 and Rail and other Infrastructure.

I have always been opposed and will continue to fight SACs NHAs and other designations because of their effects on turf cutting, farming and general land use, planning, future road building, and the devaluation of property.

I am now asking you to support me on May 23rd to allow me continue
my work.

Please continue your preference for my colleagues Donal Burke and Cllr. Pat O’Sullivan.

In the European Elections: Vote 1 and 2 to Sen. Thomas Byrne and Pat “The Cope” Gallagher MEP in order of your choice.
